Citation Guide

A guide to create citations for bibliographies and works cited in research papers.

Mac (Word 2016)

  1. Make sure that your cursor is at the very beginning of your document.
  2. Click Insert.
  3. Click Pages and select Blank Page to insert a blank page above your content.
  4. Center your text, type your title, your name, and your university affiliation, and hit return until your title is placed in the center of the page. This should also be double-spaced.
  5. Double-click the Header space on your title page.
  6. The Header and Footer menu should open automatically in the menu area.
  7. Select the box for Different First Page.
  8. Type an abbreviated version of your title, in ALL CAPS, preceded by the words "Running Head" and a colon.
  9. Include an Author's Note at the bottom of the title page, describing what class the paper was prepared for.
  10. View the Hacker Guide's APA Example Paper for a better picture of what this should look like. Remember to double-space!

PC (Word 2013)

  1. Ensure that your cursor is at the very beginning of your document.
