Student Training

This libguide contains instructions for Library Student Employees.

BEK Cable and DVR

The library has four TVs equipped with BEK's Digital School cable package. Each TV is assigned a number, which corresponds to a label on the back of its designated remote. The cable input on each TV is set to HDMI 1.

  1. Makerspace
  2. Reading Room
  3. Ramos Room
  4. Lounge

The Lounge TV is equipped with a DVR for recording programs. Programs can be recorded from and played back on any of the four TVs.

Note that the TV button (in the red box) must be selected in order for the remote to work on the TV.

Troubleshooting Tips

Remote not working:

- Make sure the TV button is selected

Nothing on the screen:

- Make sure the input is set to HDMI 1

Makerspace Television (TCL)

The Makerspace television uses its own remote to turn it on/off, to change inputs, and to adjust volume.  The image below displays the television remote.

This television runs a slideshow off of a USB drive inserted into the USB port. Users may also insert a HDMI cable into the HDMI input in order to display media from their computer on the TV screen.

Selecting other inputs:

1.  Press input on the television remote until the menu appears.  You may need to wait a few moments before proceeding to the next input channel.

VIZIO TVs - Ramos Room, Reading Room, Lounge

The Vizio television comes equipped with web-enabled applications.  Those wishing to use apps requiring subscriptions must log in with their account information and log out when they are finished.  YouTube may be used without logging in.

To access the web apps, use the TV remote and click the centrally located "V" button to open the menu, or use the link buttons at the top of the remote to travel directly to Amazon Prime Streatming Video, Netflix, or Vudu.  Use the arrow buttons to navigate to the app you wish to open:

Playing a USB Slideshow on a VIZIO TV

To play a USB slideshow on a VIZIO TV, press the silver V button in the middle of the remote. If you are switching from cable TV back to this slideshow, this can be done at any point. You will not need to do anything with the BEK cable remote.
