Emergency Training for Student Employees

Please take a few minutes to review emergency procedures for the Library. These procedures are to be implemented in the event that you are alone at the Library and there is no full-time Library Staff in the building or the immediate area at the time of the emergency. If there is an full-time Library Staff person present, your first step would be to notify him/her of the impending emergency. If you must take emergency action, remember to inform the Library Director about the circumstances of the event.

Suspicious Person

Suspicious person: Call 701-248-0443 (VCSU Building Security) 

Armed intruder: Call (9)911 if on campus phone.

Fire

Fire alarm sounding: Go outside immediately and wait for VCSU facilities personnel to instruct you when to return to the building.

Fire with no alarm sounding: Call 3-7708 if on campus phone. (VCSU Powerhouse) and report a fire.

Medical Emergency

Call 701-248-0443 (VCSU Building Safety) OR (9)911 if on campus phone.

Other Issues

Doors will not lock/unlock: Call 701-248-0443 (VCSU Building Security) and ask for assistance.

Major water issues (flooded floor, elevator, etc.): Call 3-7708 if on campus phone. (VCSU Powerhouse

Unscheduled Campus Closure

Weather-related cancellations/closing: Allen Memorial Library follows campus closure policy; if VCSU is closed due to severe weather or other conditions, Allen Memorial Library will also close.  Closure announcements are sent via email.
