When you attempt to log in from off-campus, you will typically be brought to a login page similar to the screenshot below: Enter your username - without the @ndus.edu or @vcsu.edu at the end - and password.
You may encounter this error screen:
If you do, first check that you haven't entered in:
If you still reach this error page, there may a problem with how the EzProxy server is handling your username. You can get in touch with Ben Ferguson, who will provide you with a temporary username and password and contact VCSU's Technology Services department on your behalf to look at what may be causing your problem.
Notice from Overdrive
Last month, OverDrive reported that the web certificate provider Let’s Encrypt would end support for older operating systems at the end of September 2021. Certificates from Let’s Encrypt are relied on for secure connections for websites and apps including Libby and OverDrive. As a result of this change, the following is now in effect: |
|
The expectation was that affected users would receive a security warning after the Let’s Encrypt change, but we’ve since learned that a warning is not always displayed. Users may experience issues with signing in, borrowing, loading the app’s content, etc. |

Updates as of Oct 24, 2021:
While accessing articles from our online catalog that are provided by EBSCO, you may have come across an error screen that reads “We are unable to validate your login credentials”.
This is an ongoing problem that we are working to solve, and it affects off-campus access. We do have a workaround in the meantime. If you find an article that you’d like to view, but the link takes you to this error screen, you can go to this link instead: https://library.vcsu.edu:2443/login?url=http://search.ebscohost.com/login.aspx?authpid=ehost&profid=ehost. On here, you can search for the same article, and you should be able to view it on the results page that comes up.
Please let us know if you still are unable to access articles in this way; for help with troubleshooting, email Ben Ferguson at Benjamin.ferguson@vcsu.edu. If you would like us to send you a digital copy of an article, email library@vcsu.edu.
Most JSTOR articles should be accessible with no problem; for one journal title we have noticed a problem. For The Oral History Review, articles will not link properly from our catalog. If you need to access an article from this journal, you can either search directly in JSTOR, or use the directory for The Oral History Review to locate the article.
You can check the status of VCSU's IT systems here.
