This guide will show the current status of our online resources and notify users of any current service outages or issues with access.

Recent Updates

  • Wiley Online Library access has been restored!
  • Users of some legacy browsers may encounter difficulties with viewing eBooks in Overdrive; check here for more information.

Off-campus authentication issues

When you attempt to log in from off-campus, you will typically be brought to a login page similar to the screenshot below: Enter your username - without the @ndus.edu or @vcsu.edu at the end - and password.

You may encounter this error screen:

If you do, first check that you haven't entered in:

  • A user name with "@vcsu.edu"  or "@ndus.edu" at the end
  • An out-of date or incorrectly typed password

If you still reach this error page, there may a problem with how the EzProxy server is handling your username. You can get in touch with Ben Ferguson, who will provide you with a temporary username and password and contact VCSU's Technology Services department on your behalf to look at what may be causing your problem.

Overdrive Issues

Notice from Overdrive

Last month, OverDrive reported that the web certificate provider Let’s Encrypt would end support for older operating systems at the end of September 2021. Certificates from Let’s Encrypt are relied on for secure connections for websites and apps including Libby and OverDrive. As a result of this change, the following is now in effect:

  • Libby’s minimum iOS version is now iOS 10. To use Libby on an iOS device, users are required to update their device’s operating system to iOS 10 or newer. These are the steps to help iOS users update their operating system version.
  • The legacy OverDrive for Mac desktop app is only supported on macOS versions 10.12.1 through 10.14.
  • Users on legacy web browsers may experience issues loading libbyapp.com or your OverDrive website and should upgrade to a newer browser version, if possible.

The expectation was that affected users would receive a security warning after the Let’s Encrypt change, but we’ve since learned that a warning is not always displayed. Users may experience issues with signing in, borrowing, loading the app’s content, etc.

For more information and troubleshooting tips, check out Libby Help and OverDrive Help. If you have any questions, please contact your Account Manager.

Thank you,
OverDrive

Catalog issues

Updates as of Oct 24, 2021:

EBSCO articles

While accessing articles from our online catalog that are provided by EBSCO, you may have come across an error screen that reads “We are unable to validate your login credentials”.

This is an ongoing problem that we are working to solve, and it affects off-campus access. We do have a workaround in the meantime. If you find an article that you’d like to view, but the link takes you to this error screen, you can go to this link instead: https://library.vcsu.edu:2443/login?url=http://search.ebscohost.com/login.aspx?authpid=ehost&profid=ehost. On here, you can search for the same article, and you should be able to view it on the results page that comes up.

Please let us know if you still are unable to access articles in this way; for help with troubleshooting, email Ben Ferguson at Benjamin.ferguson@vcsu.edu. If you would like us to send you a digital copy of an article, email library@vcsu.edu.

We are unable to validate your login credentials. Please contact your institution for assistance. Please note, Referring URL authentication may have been prevented by antivirs or privacy control software. [Authentication Error Code 103]

JSTOR articles

Most JSTOR articles should be accessible with no problem; for one journal title we have noticed a problem. For The Oral History Review, articles will not link properly from our catalog. If you need to access an article from this journal, you can either search directly in JSTOR, or use the directory for The Oral History Review to locate the article.
