Library Instruction

Tired of your students using Wikipedia and EasyBib? VCSU Librarians can help with that!

Interlibrary Loan

VCSU Library maintains a robust Interlibrary Loan service. This allows library users to request items that we don't own to be delivered to us from other libraries.

Faculty and Staff Borrowing Policies 

Faculty and Staff checkout periods for regular collection material are end of semester. There are a few exceptions to that rule, please see below:

Borrowing Periods

Books End of Semester
DVDs & AVs 1 week
Curriculum Library 4 weeks
Periodicals Overnight (or 3 days - dependent on resource)

Collection Development

In developing the collection of this library VCSU Library staff encourages Faculty and Staff to make purchasing suggestions to support your work and teaching. If you'd like the Library to purchase a book, reference resource, newspaper, journal, DVD, etc. fill out this OneStop form with the title, author, publication information, and why you think we should purchase it.

Course Material Reserves

The Library's Course Reserves Service allows instructors to set aside books, films, or sound recordings for class use. This service allows faculty to select a designated borrowing period that is different from a typical collection borrowing period. This allows all students in this class to have equal access to the material. Course reserves can be library owned material or instructor owned. 

Borrowing periods can be:

  • 3 hours (in library use only),
  • Overnight,
  • 3 days,
  • 1 week,
  • 2 week.

Library Spaces

The VCSU Library has 2 dedicated classroom spaces, 2 flex spaces, and 4 study rooms. These spaces can be used for classes, meetings, office hours, etc. Please contact library staff to book a space!

Librarians are available to assist you with any research needs you or your students may have!
