The staff of Allen Memorial Library are available to help with your research success however we can. We are available for assistance online through chat, phone, text, or by email. We would also be happy to set up an online appointment with you (over Teams) for a more in-depth research consultation.
Night O.W.L. (Online With the Librarian)
Need help during the evening? VCSU Librarians offer casual online research/citation/idea support every 1st and 3rd Tuesday of the month from 7pm-9pm.
Chat with a Librarian
From 8-4 Monday - Thursday VCSU Librarians are available to help you through our online chat service. If chat is turned off or unresponsive that likely means our librarians are helping someone else - in that case send us an email and we will get back to you as soon as possible!
Book a Research Appointment

Other ways to get help
Finding Academic Articles
Finding Subject Specific Resources
We own over 100,000 eBooks available through Ebook Central and the EBSCO eBook Collection. eBooks are actual published books in electronic format, so they should meet your instructor's requirement for book sources. Please be aware that some eBooks can only be viewed by one person at a time, just like print books. If you get an error message for an eBook that you want to read, please let us know!
Need to access a physical item that the VCSU Library has and cannot pick it up in person? We can mail it to you! We are happy to mail any physical item in the library to you (even if you are outside of North Dakota!).
Need an article or book that the VCSU Library does not have? No problem! Just place an interlibrary loan request! Through this free service, you can request items that will be emailed to you (if the item is digital) or mailed to you (if the item is physical).
How long does interlibrary loan take? It depends! digital items usually take 2-4 days, and physical items take 1-3 weeks.
As an online/distance student, you have full access to all of our library resources. When accessing our online resources, you may be asked to log in. For information on logging in and accessing our online resources from a distance click here! If you encounter any issues accessing our resources online please let us know!
