About Libby

What is Libby?

Libby is an app that provides access to thousands of ebooks and audiobooks that are available for free through the library! Our collection has both fiction and non-fiction titles. Libby lets you read offline, create tags to organize books, and even use your kindle for library books.

Libby is available through your web browser for use on a computer or as an app that can be downloaded for both Apple products and products that use Android. Amazon Fire tablet users can download an app from the Amazon Appstore as well.

Libby holds a collection of over 5,200 eBooks and 1,400 Audiobooks available to check out via your laptop or cellphone! There are both fiction and nonfiction books on Libby. This link leads to the browser version of Libby.

Signing into Libby

Set Up the Libby App

Step 1: Download the Libby app on your device.

Step 2: When you open Libby for the first time, it will ask if you have a library card. Choose "Yes."

Step 3: Choose "Search for a Library" and search for "North Dakota Academic Consortium" or allow the app to use geolocation services and select North Dakota Academic Consortium.

Step 4: You will be asked "Where do you use your library card?" Use the dropdown menu to select Valley City State University 1 (Students, Faculty, and Staff).

Step 5: You will be redirected to log in using your NDUS information. Your username will be your firstname.lastname and your password is the same as all of your NDUS logins.

Once you enter your credentials, you should be logged into Libby and be able to check out books!

Sign into Libby for Browser

Step 1: Go to the Libby browser. If you use a link from this page, you should be taken directly to the North Dakota Academic Consortium Libby page.

Step 2: There will be text on the top right of the page prompting you to add a library card. Click the "Sign in With My Library Card" button.

Step 3: You will be asked "Where do you use your library card?" You will need to click "see 12+ more" to view all of the option, then select Valley City State University 1 (Students, Faculty, and Staff).

Step 4: You will be redirected to log in using your NDUS information. Your username will be your firstname.lastname and your password is the same as all of your NDUS logins.

Once you enter your credentials, you should be logged into Libby and be able to check out books!
