Using Libby for Ebooks and Audiobooks

Overview of Libby

There are five icons at the bottom of the Libby app both on mobile and on the browser.

Search

The first icon opens the "Search" function. This icon is a little magnifying glass shape.

This icon allows you to search for the title, author, subject, or series of an item. Your recent searches are also saved here unless you choose to delete them. Catalog filters can also be used from this page.

Browse

The second icon opens the browse page. This icon is a small building.

There are several options for browsing on this page. There are sort and filter options at the top. There are also collections of materials based on format, subject, audience, or other categories. Selecting a collection will let you scroll through the titles in that collection.

Manage Libraries

The middle icon is for the Manage Libraries page. This icon is three horizontal lines.

The Manage Libraries page allows you to add new libraries or library cards and is also where the settings live. You can get to Libby's help options from this page as well.

Shelf

The fourth icon opens the Shelf page. This icon looks like a stack of books.

Your shelf is where all of your checked out materials live and where you go to open them. You can also renew items or return them early using the manage loan option by each item on your shelf. The option to look at what you have on hold or to view the timeline of your previous checkouts is available on the top of the shelf page.

Tags

The last icon opens the Tags page. This icon looks like a price tag.

You can use tags to create collections of materials. You can create new tags from this page, for example a "To Read" tag, then when looking at titles on Libby, you can add the tag to save them to a collection. There are some tags that Libby creates automatically, these are called "smart tags". .
