Creative Commons and Public Domain Images

The list below is a good starting point for finding images that are either in the public domain or have Creative Commons licenses.

Flikr Creative Commons
Flickr has a portion of their website dedicated to hosting creative commons licensed images.
Google Images Advanced Search
If you want to use Google to find images, try this advanced search option. Set the "usage rights" filter to Creative Commons before searching!
Library of Congress Free to Use and Reuse
Digital content from the Library of Congress that is free to use, most of which are in the public domain.
Openverse Search
Openverse searches for find public domain or creative commons images and is built using open access code.
Unsplash Images
Unsplash is a website where photographers upload images that can be used for free. Attribution to the photographer is appreciated, but not required.
Wikimedia Commons
The Wikimedia Commons allows searching for images based on license type. Use this search to find public domain or creative commons images.
