Valley City Times-Record

The Times-Record is the official paper of Barnes County and Valley City.  The Library owns a microfilmed copy of nearly every Times-Record issue.  Because the Times-Record is not electronically indexed, Library staff ask that users refer to the microflim to browse issues and articles.  To view the microfilm, please visit or contact the Library.

The Library also owns a nearly complete run of the print version of the Times-Record.  Older issues are bound and housed in our archival collection.  Users are asked to refer to the microfilm first, before reqesting the print originals.  Do note that the T-R's website often provides limited previews of their most recent print issues.

The Library is developing an obituary index of the Times-Record.  The project is far from complete, but it may assist individuals in locating obituaries in the earliest years of the TR's history.  Please visit the Obituary page to experiment with this resource.  Note: The resource is very incomplete.  Please contact a librarian if you are unable to locate the information you are seeking.
