Original Research - What You Need to Know

What is Original Research?

When I talk about original research, I mean running your own research study, especially if the study involves human participants. When working with human participants, there are regulations and requirements to ensure that all research is done in an ethical manner.

The Institutional Review Board

The Institutional Review Board (IRB) is VCSU's way of supporting research that requires human participants while making sure those participants are protected. Visit the IRB's web page for a detailed explanation of their work and how to get in touch with them.

Learn about Research Studies

The following series of articles about research study designs provides an overview of different types of study as well as discussing their strengths and weaknesses. These links go to the PubMed Central links for the articles, so you shouldn't need to log in with your NDUS info to access them.
