8 Dimensions of Wellness: Environmental Wellness

Environmental Wellness

Green wedge with a leaf graphic and the word environmental.

What surrounds you each day in your home, work, or neighborhood and the resources available to you can affect your health. You can’t always choose what’s in the environments you live, work, or play in. But taking small steps to make your environments safer and limiting your exposure to potentially harmful substances can help keep you healthier.

Ways to develop your environmental wellness:
  • Schedule a time to complete a small task daily that supports a clean living environment - i.e. cleaning up a small area on your work desk, clean out 1 junk drawer, finish cleaning dirty dishes, and so forth.
  • Create a safe living environment that provides security - make sure the locks on your doors and windows are secure, etc.
  • Be aware of the weather and dress appropriately for hot or cold temperatures.
