Social Wellness

From the time you’re born, your relationships help you learn to navigate the world. You learn how to interact with others, express yourself, conduct everyday health habits, and be a part of different communities from those around you. Positive social habits can help you build support systems and stay healthier mentally and physically. Social wellness is about our ability to relate well to others, and involves not only our relationships with individuals, but an interest in humanity as a whole.

Ways to develop social wellness:
  • Talk with a counselor about healthy relationships if you find that you are struggling with loneliness, feeling a sense of belonging, lacking a sense of support, etc.
  • Join student organizations or join volunteer opportunities
  • Participate in RA events, campus events, and be active in classroom activities/discussions
  • Be active in your community, at college and at home
