Textbook Lending
Textbook Lending Library
As a response to the increasing costs of textbooks and our commitment at VCSU to providing high-quality learning materials at low costs, the Allen Memorial Library has begun collecting and circulating textbooks for selected general education courses. The textbooks available in the Textbook Lending Library have been purchased through grant funds in order to provide equitable access to learning materials for all VCSU students.
Considerations for selection:
-
Availability of funds
-
Faculty interest in the program
-
Professor must be willing to commit to the use of this textbook for a minimum of 3 years
-
Courses must be in the gen ed sequence and taught on a regular basis
Books from the Textbook library are circulated for one semester, and students must be enrolled in the course in order to borrow the textbooks.
Books are due back in the library on or before the last Friday of finals week.
Students are not allowed to mark, highlight, or write in library textbooks, and they must be kept in good condition and returned in the same condition as when checked out.
Students are responsible for replacement costs of textbooks if the books are lost, damaged, stolen, or sold.
Failure to return a textbook by the due date will result in a block being placed on the student’s account in Campus Connection. This could prevent them from registering for courses, receiving transcripts, or receiving their diploma.
Students will be expected to sign a contract acknowledging the terms laid out for textbook lending.
